A busy year for Cloutility development

What’s new in Cloutility in 2026 – and what’s coming next

2026 has so far been a busy year for Cloutility development. We’ve added support for more backup platforms, made the jobs tool more useful and made everyday administration easier. Here’s an overview of what’s new this year.

More platforms supported

  • Commvault: Cloutility now supports Commvault, and we’ve kept improving the integration throughout the year.
  • Microsoft 365 for Rubrik Security Cloud: You can now report on and bill Microsoft 365 protected by Rubrik Security Cloud, including billing based on consumed user licences. It also works with large tenants.
  • Nutanix Prism Central via Rubrik Security Cloud: Nutanix workloads managed through Prism Central are now supported.

A more useful jobs tool

  • Jobs now show their native IDs from the backup platform. You can also add comments to jobs and search historic jobs.
  • Secondary data-source names are shown in jobs, and a new search finds secondary data-sources that aren’t assigned yet.
  • You can now move consumption units directly from the jobs section.

Easier administration and better security

  • Microsoft 365 OAuth2 for outgoing email: Cloutility can send email through Microsoft 365 using modern OAuth2 authentication.
  • New storage labels: The storage base labels are now called unreduced, reduced and client-side, which makes them clearer.
  • Better IBM Storage Protect imports: Deduplication statistics now import with less memory use and fewer timeouts. If a run is interrupted, the import unlocks itself automatically.
  • Better troubleshooting: Rubrik API calls are now logged in the daemon logs, daemons can export extended details, server logs load faster and API responses are smaller.
  • Safer installations: The installer now guards the database recovery model setting.

Coming next: GB and GiB

In the next release, you’ll be able to choose whether storage is shown and settled in decimal units (GB, where 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes) or binary units (GiB, where 1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes). The same choice applies to MB/MiB, TB/TiB and PB/PiB. This makes it easier to compare Cloutility figures with your backup platform and your own invoices. We’ll share more details when the release is ready.
